A church family who loves you

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Cookies!!!
Deadline is Tuesday, April 18, 2017,
before 12:00noon!
Thank you for your help!
God's love shines through you!

The Kairos Team training is nearly finished and the team is preparing to take the message of Jesus Christ into California State Prison (CSP) Folsom in April.

The KAIROS Prison Ministry has as its purpose the establishment of a Christian Community within prison institutions.  This process starts with a three-day Short Course in Christianity presented by a group of laity and clergy.  These cookies and hands are for the course being presented at the weekend in California State Prison (CSP) Folsom.  The hands will be strung around the Community Room in which the Short Course is being presented.

Kairos Cookies

It's that time again when we take God's love into the prisons and you can help by making cookies!  Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God's concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives.  Your loving sacrifice will provide "bread" that shines the Light of God's Grace into the darkest corners of a prison unit.  May God bless you for the gift of baking!

However, there are certain regulations and requirements for the cookies, so here they are if you are interested in helping out this very worthwhile ministry:

Cookie Preparation:

•    The types of cookies that are generally acceptable are: Oatmeal, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip.
•    Cookies should be between 2 inches to 2 1/2 inches in diameter and not more than 1/2 inch thick.
•    It is VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT to use icing, sugar, sprinkles, or any other type of coating on the outside of the cookie.
•    DO NOT ADD ANY KIND OF FRUIT OR NUTS TO THE COOKIES!

The Key Ingredient: Prayer

•    Pray individually or as a family over the ingredients before and during mixing.
•    Pray over the cookies as you drop them onto the cookie sheets and bake them.
•    Ask God to use your cookies as a source of His love to shine on the prisoners and staff on the Kairos weekend.
•    Pray that each cookie brings the inmate, officer and warden who eats it closer to God.  We want every person to become part of the family of God.

Packing the Cookies:

•    Bag completely cooled cookies in a quart sized zip lock bag with one dozen cookies to each bag. Use only zip lock bags, NO SLIDING LOCKS are allowed.
•    Label each bag with the type of cookie inside.
•    Freeze all cookies if not using within 3 days.

If you have any questions, please contact Bert or Carol.

Kairos "Hands of Love"

Share your love with a resident of KAIROS in CSP Folsom. These hands will be strung around the Community Room in which the Short Course is being presented.

Here’s how you can help!
1.      Draw the outline of your hand on a piece of colored construction paper.
2.      Write a brief, one sentence expression of love within the outline of the hand and write your first name only.
3.      Cut out the hand.
4.      Bring it to the church by the deadline, please!

Examples of expressions of love:
♥       “I love you.”
♥       “Jesus loves you and so do I.”
♥       “My prayer is for Jesus to fill your heart with love.”
♥       A favorite scripture passage.
♥       Any prayerful, joyful, sincere expression of love.

Thank you for your help!

A huge Kairos "thank you" to our church community for
the wonderful cookies
